Landing Page Quality Score
Many advertisers have been hit badly with the implementation of Adwords' new landing page quality score. Some of our travel clients have seen a jump in minimum bids of up to £5 mainly because their landing pages are almost totally devoid of content other than search forms. So how does this affect search marketing other than getting rid of arbitrage? This is my take on it:
* The new algo will force advertisers to invest in optimised landing pages. * SEM agencies that have shunned SEO in favour of PPC will need to invest in SEO skills. * PPC account execs and managers will no longer be able to get away with having no html or SEO skills. * Developers and designers will see an increase in clients needing new pages. There will be a surge in the number of pages on sites as advertisers create pages for each PPC keyword. * In the short-term Adsense publishers will see an increase in commission as advertisers raise their bids to stay in the game. * There will be a huge transfer of black hat SEO practices to PPC * SEO and PPC will grow increasingly together What do you think? |

Now that the early complaints seem to have died down I think this has been an excellent addition to AdWords to increase the quality and relevance of websites listed by removing many of the MFA websites and affiliate links.

Google Problems
Well I think it is definitely a fly in the ointment. Google is increasing their voodoo factor by adding more unknown elements to their formula for telling us how much we need to bid on an ad.
I see plenty of people in the genre of ads we run that are #1 page 1 on down with absolutely no content. I want to know how they are doing this? I talked to Google today and the response I got was that they have not gotten all advertisers and ads reviewed. I think we just picked the wrong time to get into PPC marketing because everything is changing and the newest ads seem to be getting hit the hardest. C$R |

Google have implemented these new changes very poorly, thats why it appears to be random and the theories are running wild.

It was implemented over a month ago. If you didn't notice then you probably weren't affected much. |

Yes I believe it is because I have seen some fluctuation on my UK account stats. |
