Keyword v Site Targeted
I know traditionally people use adowrds to place advertisements on google search and pay x cents (or dollars, depending upon the word) for each click on there advertisement, but has anyone tried site targeted advertising, both in form of text and image adverts.
What sort of feedback are people getting from it? We run a affiliate marketing agency doing online marketing for a number of companies signed up thru Commission Junction and similar programs, after trying adwords search engine we have found little success, mainly due to the marketing becoming very saturated - sure the keywords you want are out there, but only if you are prepared to pay several dollars a click. After playing about with adwords we notice that you set a cost per impression for banner ads rather than a cost per click, as we do affiliate marketing we have access to numerous high quality banners provided by the companies we advertise so given this we are considering trying this approach, afterall if you are paying 50c a click on search engine marketing setting a 50p per 1000 impressions would mean you need 1/1000 to get the same ROI rate But (sorry am getting to the point of this post) although it looks cheap does it actually work, has anyone had decent success with site targeted advertising? |

Keyword v Site Targeted
Hi,
I am a bit successful at site-targeting, but I found it difficult to have control over it. I lost 70 euros in just 15 minutes. main things you got to know... unlike keyword targeting, the ads will be displayed at content network. They will be displayed irrelevant to the content of the page. minimum CPM is 20 cents. The sites which signup for CPM at adsense will have more traffic like dictionary.com, thefreedictionary.com( they will give 1000 impessions in just 5-10 mins) If you find very relevant sites to your image/text ads with low traffic rate, then you can go ahead. Good luck, Venkat |

I would suggest being careful with the CPM bids for site targeted ad's as it's easy to spend large amounts of money at first.
In my experience keywords generally work best but once you've tweaked out the sites that don't achieve a good CTR site-targeted can work well too. |
