I use a lot more keywords than that. If you are willing to pay the clicks you can have as many as you want.

SEO-
I believe he is talking about Adwords (and how many keywords to enter) rather than the number of keywords to display on a page or target per a page. Cheers |

But choosing single highly searched words puts you in competition with lots of people who are willing to pay a lot for those same words (often because they have more money than sense). These single words can cost $9-$20 dollars per ad click - making them tremendously expensive to buy. Rarely can a single word represent your product - so don't invest in these expensive single words. Choose phrases - When people use the search engines, they generally search for specific information or a solution to a specific problem. They don't search for 'cats', but will instead search for 'siamese cats'. So instead of buying the very expensive word 'cats', you would want to buy the ad word 'siamese cats'. Buy phrases, not words. |

The more keywords, the merrier.
My strategy is to go for the more specific and targeted search phrases, and to avoid broad-based search phrases. Doing so not only is efficient in terms of money, but it also brings in a better ROI. |
