How accurate is analytics with keyword reporting?
Hi, first post here. I have a question that pertains to adwords and maybe more analytics. We spent about 1000-1600 per day PPC in google. I know a fair amount of it is junk but trying to determine what to lower and what to shut down is not always easy. Everyday I get a analytics report and in that it shows me the entrances and what key terms people used to enter the site.
My question is how accurate is analytics for keyword reporting? I don't care that it isn't as accurate for visitors and all that not concerned with that. What I want to know is when they say KEYWORD XYZ is that a absolute accurate report or could that have come for a part of something that was searched. For example:
If I bid on the keyword "BLACK CARS" and had it set to broad on my adwords account and someone searched "I HATE PEOPLE IN BLACK CARS" I would show up for that search. When I look on analytics will that show up as "BLACK CARS" because it was intercepted by the broad characteristic or will it report on analytics as "I HATE PEOPLE IN BLACK CARS" ?
I want to customize my campaigns more because they are too open ended and I know I am wasting money that could be put to better use. You just get nervous to change things when you aren't exactly sure how accurate these reports are. So if any of you SEO experts can comment on this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

To get piece meal advice on Google Adwords, IMO, should not be the way for you to go.
I may be wrong, but it sounds like you are a novice with Adwords. If true, and you are spending in excess of $1,000/day on Adwords, I strongly recommend that you contact a certified Adwords expert to assist you. You are likely wasting a lot of money per day as well as not maximizing your return on that investment.
I do not have anyone to recommend at this time. Our senior SEO Chat members may be able to recommend a proven Adwords expert to you if you want to travel that road.

Thanks for that reply. I am a novice depending on how you define that. We make more than we spend that is for sure, but I know there is crap hits coming in because I see them as I am monitoring the sites daily. Everytime I ask Google I get either a completely vague response or they don't really answer the question. I have this ignorant view on google expert teams in that I feel like they want things to be vague to a point so you do spend more. If everyone master tuned there campaigns optimally then they wouldn't make as much. Like I said this is my ignorant opinion based on nothing. I just find it hard to believe they care about me saving money and cutting costs so I refrain from asking them. The few times I have the answer has been either non-related to the question or so vague it might as well not even been answered.

A true Adword experienced certified expert will definitely save you money and, most likely, increase your return. You, with spending $1,000 - $1,600 per day on Adwords, will make much more than any fees you would pay him/her. IMO, it would be a wise investment on your part. In addition, you could become an expert yourself (paid for with the savings you will realize).

Good advice. These experts you speak of are they inside google? Or are these external resources you are referring to as in other companies who specialize in this?

I am sure some of our members, e.g. EGOL, would have an excellent recommendations for you. Just don't forget to interview in depth, ask for 3-5 references, check references in detail, add yourself as trainee in the contract with a goal of you becoming Adwords certified.
EDIT: I do my own Adwords only for myself. So does EGOL. It is a real science. There is one member on here that is stellar in Adwords but I cannot remember his name. EGOL does.
