Google adwords

Hi all,

Being a newbie in the PPC world, i would like your precious comments and suggestions to start with. We are running the ppc on the Overture will quite well conversion and to expand the visibility & conversion, we have planned to start with Adwords as well.

We have about 1000 keywords on it and have recieved more then 300 clicks in last two days but with no sale/lead . All i am worried about is the keywords am using and have some confussion with the format of keyword i should use. Will you be kind enough to put some light onto it.

It would be great if i can get the answers to the following as well.

1. What would be the number of keywords i should use? less or more and why?

2. There are lots of keywords which have not recieved the impressions too, so should i keep them or replace them with improved one.

Thanks,
Mike...

Adwords isn't Overture

Adwords is not the same as Overture, there are important differences which you can look into yourself. As for getting 300 hits and no sales, that suggests problems. I presume with overture you'd expect sales from hits like that?

Anyway, possible problems in conversion could be any of the following: bad site design, inappropriate ad copy pointing to off-topic landing pages, regional targeting and whether you are getting those hits from the content network might be a factor and, finally, maybe all those 300 people were having a bad hair day and for some reason were not in the mood for buying.

Maybe you should wait and see how things go over a longer period of time.. then again, it might be just a problem with your conversion tracking?

thanks

Hi GPC,

thanks a ton for taking time to reply but there are certain things i am still not clear at.

We are running the ppc on the mobile phone price comparison site.

Bad site design - the website provides the clear and easy navigation.

inappropriate ad copy pointing to off-topic landing pages -
keywords are handset specific so are pointed toward the specific handset only.

regional targeting and whether you are getting those hits from the content network might be a factor - no regional tracking and we are running the ads on the google itself (no content network selected)

maybe all those 300 people were having a bad hair day and for some reason were not in the mood for buying - Even i have the very same opinion

it might be just a problem with your conversion tracking - cant see any probs with the tracking as its working perfectly fine with the overture.

Would love to see more suggestions to improve the visibility along with CTR and good conversion tooo.

Cheers,
Mike...

300 hits and no sales

Hi Mike,

Sounds like you know as much as me on this stuff, if not more.

Would you normally get a few sales with 300 clicks on Overture?

on overture i have an average of 1 sale per 50 clicks.... and thats not too bad.. but i could feel the drastic change here in google.. Google is not really easy to play with but requires time and practical experience to make it easier and for that i came here to grab and learn from your experiences.

Hope i'll get appropriate help here.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Mike...

Angry Adwords no sale?

Well join the club. We just relaunched after having paused it for some time. Our log was not working and finally got it to work the past 2 days - guess what we noticed - all google hits from searchportal.information.com. That is click fraud. Naturally, we did not have a single sale because our advt budget is eaten away by dupe clicks.

If you happen to research more on this topic and are aware of additional click fraud websites please post it.

Thanks
