Confusion with the display and landing page URL. Please help.
Hello,
I have a client who are running an adwords campaign. When i clicked on one of the ads in the campaign, it was quickly redirected to another domain.
Say for example, the display URL for the ad is www.abc.com
When I click the ad, it takes me to page (with URL www.abc.com/store/products.php?blah_blah_blah) which quickly redirects to another domain, say www.xyz.com
Now according to the Google TOS, they say "Your display URL must accurately reflect the landing page URL of the website you're advertising. It should match the domain of your landing page so that users will know which site they'll be taken to when they click on your ad."
I get confused here. Does my client's campaign violate the terms and conditions?

Yes, this violates the terms. The final destination domain after all redirects must match the display domain in the ad. Why this hasn't been caught automatically, I don't know, but you can be sure that when it is discovered, and it will, the ad will be disapproved for inaccurate display URL.

Firstly, in many ads of big brands in Google Ad campaign you can find mismatches between display URL and exact URL (same domain, but not the exact URL). Still their ads are running successfully. So I don't think this difference between Display URL and final destination URL is a big issue.
Secondly, when ever an ad campaign will violate the TOS OF Google Ad campaign - as per as I know Google will stop their ads until the problem get solved.
Considering these facts and as your client's ad is running - I don't think that the ad campaign is violating any rules. But as you mentioned that the final destination is in another domain, that may effect the Quality Score of the ad.
