Can't See Adwords Ads

About three days ago my AdWords disappeared. They didn't disappear from Google, I simply lost the ability to see them from my I.P. If I use a dialup I can see them just fine.

I called Google AdWords support and they informed me that they showed everything up and running. They told me that they would talk to their technical team and look into it further. This is a copy of the e-mail I got from them.

Quote:
It was a pleasure speaking with you earlier today. I wanted to let you
know that I have been researching your account and I spoke with our
technical team regarding the issues that you have been experiencing with your ads.

After researching your account we have found that your ads are running and appearing regularly. I have been able to see your ad appearing for numerous keyword searches.

In speaking with the technical team and letting them know that you have
been able to see the ad from your dial up connection, but not your regular office line, I have been informed that it may be due to a modification in the way we serve and rank ads for keyword searches. As is the case with our search results, we make periodic changes in order to more precisely target an ad to the right user.

These system changes are designed to show your ads to users who are more likely to click on them, thus driving more qualified traffic to your site. For this reason, your ads might be shown in different positions to different users depending on search behavior, such as the user's location and search query. Even though your ad's rank might be lower in some cases, your overall campaign results - such as average position, clickthrough rate (CTR), impressions, and spend - should be improved. Therefore, we encourage you to focus on your campaign statistics, including conversion rates, to better understand your ad's performance.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to reply to this
email and I am happy to assist you.

So now I am supposed to blindly hope my ads are showing as they are supposed to? Their “average position” indicator is never right. It will often tell me that I average a 2.7 position when in fact I am around position 6. I need to adjust my maximum CPC a needed. I have to see my ads! Has anybody else experienced anything similar to this?

Thanks!

If they are still there on dialup, you likely have some sort of settings, DSL or cable problem, but I do not have a clue on what it could be. You call your ISP?

The odd thing is that I can see everybody elses ads. If I do the search on AOL, I can see my ad. It is only on Google.

My competitors show up just fine. It is only my ad that doesn't show. Google makes it sound like they have blocked me from seeing it bacause I wouldn't want to click on it anyway.

Somebody else told me that Google may want to prevent me from seeing my own ads to help boost my click through and order conversion rates.

I just got a second message from them. It appears they are blocking me from seeing my own ads to keep from watering down the impressions and CTR. This really bothers me that they are telling me I cannot see my own ads.

Quote:
Thanks for your reply. I have reviewed your account again and performed a number of searches on your keywords. For each search I have been able to see your ad appearing on Google. For a number of searches I actually see you in the first or second position above the search results.

In speaking with our technical team I have been informed that the behavior you are seeing with your ads is expected. Because the AdWords system takes into consideration where a user is searching from and the likelihood of an ad click for each search that is done, each time you search for your ads and don't click on it you are lowering the CTR from your location. As a result, the system is recognizing that the potential for a valuable click on your ad coming from your location is low and is not showing your ad every time.

The account statistics are not in real time; however, they do give you an indication of where your ads are appearing. Please note that they are correct and accurate each time they are updated.

I do understand that it is frustrating not being able to see your ads consistently; however, the modification put in place by our engineering team is aimed at improving the overall performance of your ads. I do want to stress that this is not something that can be changed, the behavior is expected. Searching for a keyword consistently, and not clicking on your ads, reduces the CTR, thus the system is not showing your ad for you all the time.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to let me know.

Sincerely,

The Google AdWords Team
