Anyone have adwords on an ecommerce site?

I currently use adwords on bottom of each of my pages, on my ecommerce store, just to see how google perceives a page - and to make sure google sees it how I want it to be seen in terms of keywords.

Has anyone made a true ecommerce site (not an amazaon affiliate site) with adwords above the fold, higher up on the page, in an effort to convert your non-buyers (or lookie loos) into at least an adwords click to increase revenue?

If so, did it affect ecommerce sales at all? I tend to think it would - you don't want to give potential customers a reason to leave, but I'm interested in opinions.

If you sell any rare products, you can filter potential rare concurrents ads out.

I assume you are talking of adSENSE...

I run it on most pages of my ecommerce sites. On pages where I get lots of low quality traffic I have adsense obvious and above the fold. On pages with better traffic it is not as obvious. And I don't put it at all on pages that get my highest quality traffic....

I also have an SSI that allows me to put adsense on the top of entire directories of pages - in a prime position on the page. On days that we are out of town or need to cut back on orders/correspondence adsense goes up there to sell the traffic to my competitors.
