adwords trend

Hi,

We have seen our ROI from Google adwords slipping in recent weeks. I was just wondering whether it was a general trend, or if we are not using it at its full potential any more.

How is google adwords working for you?

Pretty much the same - actually, but there are definitely different trends across different markets.

My ROI seemed to be slipping so I cut off syndication and increased the number of campaigns running right on google. I am much happier now.

But I think fathom is right, some markets have lots of "surfers" who can drill a hole in your wallet if you leave it laying around on a content site.

I've decided that I want all of my money spent on "searchers".

Thumbs up

I followed your advice EGOL, and I am much happier with the results too. Thanks.

We have put adsense adverts on our landing pages. So if we get a surfer instead of a searcher, we redirect him to other links, and get some money back from google

Hey EGOL,

What do you mean by "cut off syndication"? I use Adwords and am not familiar with this... just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Thanks

hi utopianliving,

with adwords you can have your ads show on google, on partner search engines or on content sites. If you don't select syndication then your ads appear only on google.

This is what works best for me... when my ads are on partner searches or on content sites I wind up paying a lot more for clicks but not getting very many more sales.

Ahhh... so much to learn.

I checked back data and although I had both the "search engine" and "content sites" options turned on I haven't gotten any hits from them anyway. I guess if you have "content sites" checked then you would show up on people's sites using Adsense?

thanks again

Content sites are indeed ads via AdSense (which may be individual websites or corporate agreements like Lycos & Blogger).

Content sites work for some people and not for others. You really need to check not only CTR for content sites but also your ROI - how many people actually buy once they've clicked the ads. Figures change a lot depending on the type of product, market, etc.

It's very easy to say content sites don't work for Adwords campaigns - this is simply not true for many markets.

Gringo.
