"Sponsored search ads can add confusion and clutter to search engine results. With AdSubtracts Search Sanity feature, sponsored and paid search ads can be removed from many popular search engines. Google,Yahoo,MSN, AOL Search,AltaVista, Looksmart,AllTheWeb"
http://www.intermute.com/adsubtract/ See before and after Google screen shots here: http://www.intermute.com/screenshot...ct2&w=770&h=509 The aim is to remove irrelevant adverts ie type in "Eds Socks" and get unrelated paid adverts that say 'get books about Eds Socks'. I use Google's pop-up blocker to block pop-ups but I'm not happy with this new development. I'd rather that Google & other search engines managed their paid ads better. |

I hate to say it but it works well
Now I'm a lover of search engine marketing and pay per click advertising and I just had to test AdSubtract out today. I hate to say it... but it works very well on all US (.com) searches I looked at for Google, MSN, Yahoo, AOL and Alltheweb. I got no Adwords in Google and Yahoo results were redispayed without any sponsored links. This is very worrying.
Ad blockers have been around for a while but the application combines banner, pop-up, and cookie blocking with removal of our beloved PPC listings. Trouble is I actually found it helped me surf, it was quicker to get a result from Google and quicker to download the corresponding page. I think many people won't go with the belief that PPC results are relevant and therefore useful (which I find) and will use this like there's no tomorrow :-( |
