Adsense Question

I've never ran Adsense. Can someone give me a very rough estimate of how much a 300-400 page website that recieves 1.4 million total page views per month could expect to make with Googel Adsense?

Thanks

No thats impossible without knowing what your site is about. Besides that who knows if people click on your ads. I say just try it out at some of your pages.

It is very hard to say, but with 1.4 million pageviews you certainly can expect a nice check

I can't just try it becasue its not my site. The site is about pets. Mainly, dogs and cats. I'm just looking for a very rough estimate here because I have absolutely no idea. Can anyone throw out a guess: 300-400 pages, 1.4 million page views per month; what might a adsense check be?

Thanks

Probably thousands. Provided it's done well.

You have nothing to lose, unless there's another ads system you'd have to ditch for adsense.

Still: adsense is one of the best-paying automatic ad systems around.

here's one figure...

This is probably the worst it could be:

1% click through (14 000 clicks) @ 3cents pc... $420 per month..

Wit agrees: Thanks gabs: nice and clear "rule of thumb"

Thank you very much. You always help me. When you say "provided its done well" what are the things I need to consider to make sure it is?

Well, if the pages are large and poorly focused, you can get all sorts of cr@ppy ads on the page (since Google tries to match the ads with your on-page keywords).
You should also test whether it's better to have the ads stand out, or blend them into the actual page content.
Furthermore, you may have to give them a nice and prominent spot on the page, so that people can actually find them and click on them.

Lastly, some areas or businesses don't attact lots of happy ad-clickers. SEO is one: SE optimisers visiting SEO sites are often too web-savvy to click on ads. They just don't, unless they are very curious.
At the risk of stepping on toes here: if that site of yours targets bored housewives or teen ringtone hunters, you're in for a nice income boost hehe
