AdSense Optimization
I posted a question about this in the past.
This one will be a little more focused on the subject. I built a new site that is pretty rich in content with the following "architecture": Home Page- Optimized for "Blue Widgets" Inside pages- Optimized for "Striped Widgets", "Poker Dot Widgets", "Checkered Widgets" etc... Visitors searching for Blue Widgets are actually interested in Striped, Poker Dot and Checkered Widgets. However “Blue” is an easy one to optimize for. It is also comparatively cheap in AdWords. All the other variations are expensive in AdWords. The object of the exercise to get G to display Striped Widget Ads on that inside page which doesn't even mention "Blue". Not in Meta Tags or content. G* insists on displaying Blue Widget ads on the inside pages! Which doesn’t do any good to me or the visitors? The question is: Does G* go by what the Index page is optimized for or what the individual page is optimized for? Thank you, raz

I have a site that has a gallery of different topics which are all clustered around a single theme... google gives me ads that are tightly targeted for the keywords of each page.
I have very clear title tags, H1, H2 and anchor text to show the keyword focus of each page. I don't know how google figures out which ads to send but they do a great job.

Hi EGOL,
Thank you for your response. About how many words per page do you think it takes to get the it right? Right now I have about 130 or so words. May be that's not enough huh? Should I add more content to get it up around 450 words? raz |

Some of my pages have 150 words or less. I have found that if I optimize the page for google then I get great targeting of ads.
One thing.. if your pages are new, you might just wait a few days as I have noticed the ad targeting to improve. |

You can generate ads for any content you want in the world and then display it on your page even if it's not related. For example it is possible to have a website on basketball only and create an iframe to an ad on violins.
To generate the violin ad you can make a page filled with the desired keywords to generate the ads. Then made a hidden link to those pages so they would get crawled. You will also get paid on based on the keywords that were used to generate the ad. For example on my web site the main topic can also be represented as an abbreviation. I generated 2 ads off this topic. One topic on the whole word, one topic off the abbreviation. I have code to randomly display one of the two ads. The ads displayed for each where exactly the same, however one earned more per click than the other. You can generate ad content you think your viewers are most interested in and will earn you more. Then within that content you can optimize the keywords that create the ads to earn you more. For me it meant a 50% increase in profits and the difference between a four digit figure per month to a five digit figure. So it's definately something you can look into. Just make good use of channel data and see what works and what doesn't. As far as I know this technique is not against the ToS but if someone knows a part of the ToS that denies this type of ad creation please share =) I figure if you can help provide ad content your users are interested in it just helps the advertisers and your viewers. Hey Hachima,
Thank you for the input. My past experience in SEO had no need for these techniques, as my existing site is very focused (which does very well in SERPs). As for this new site, I can now see how hidden links (in the form of Graphic links in this case) or even some text in the form of graphics can help me achieve what I set out to do. I had never given the concept a thought before reading your post. Thank you. raz |

One More Question:
Will removing and then re pasting the AdSense code, after making changes, make the robat return? Or do you have to simply wait for the bot to do its thing? raz |

When creating an ad page it seems like it would only be viewed once at original creation. I have made 2 identical pages except for the size of the Adsense ad. One page was displaying public ads and the other was displaying ads based on the content I wanted. Changes to the pages didn't seem to do anything from that point. However I made an identical copy of the page displaying public ads and gave the page the name ad510.htm instead of ad410.htm. This new page would then sometimes start immediately displaying the ads I wanted.
My hidden link just goes to a directory with all my adds in it.Eventually(several weeks) the ad pages became indexed and started to display ads based on my target content. Also now that the pages have become indexed I can seem to make slight changes to the keywords producing my content and see immediate results in the ammount I get paid per click. + |
