It depends on how you implement it into your site. If you intend to use the Google search function to direct users to specific pages in your site, then you won't make much revenue on it, but it will be a useful tool to help people find particular pages.
If you use it in conjunction with Adsense for content, and "encourage" people to search for additional resources using it, I'm sure it can generate some cash for you.
There are a few people who have built pseudo search portals using Google, and probably do alright - there is one (who's name escapes me) that offers a prize to every nth user to encourage people to search the Internet from their site.
Like everything else Google related, it works as hard as you do...
