2 banners = +CTR

I was bored yesterday and was browsing my site thinking what I could add to it... and I saw that at the bottom of my homepage I had a nice big empty spot. I have some interesting content there, so people start reading and have to scroll down and continue reading... I knew that spot was being seen by my visitors and I was wasting it, so I put up a second adsence banner...

I really don't get many clicks from this site, and usually at this time I always have 4 or 5... I just logged into my adsense account, and I have 11 clicks! Thats over 100% more than usual.

Point of this story is... take a long look at your site... browse around, act like if you were a first time visitor and not the site's webmaster; notice where you scroll, where your eyes focus, where you drift around, and you may find some good place to put up a second banner. Any extra clicks are always welcomed!

I've placed second ad units on my sites since early Sept. I'm very pleased with the result. CTR of the first ad unit did drop 30%, but CTR of second ad units is about 80% of the CTR of the first ad units. CMP from second ad units is close to the CMP of the first ad units.
