#1 Adword bid compared to #1 SERP

For any given search term, what percentage of the #1
SERP clicks would you guess the #1 advertisement gets?

Is This A Riddle?

Enter a search term in Google, then
Click on the #1 SERP on page 1, then
Click on the FIRST Adsense ad presented, in the first block?

Is that the question? What % of searchers, who happen to click on the #1-SERP, will ALSO click on the 1st ad on that page?

So, I guess the first question is -
What % of the time is the #1 SERP result clicked on?
For me, I would guess about 75% sounds right.
It used to be about 90%, but you know the story - SERP pollution happens.

The second question -
For me, I'm rather conservative. I NEVER click on any Google ads - if I gotta go there, I copy and paste the URL. Deeply ingrained Adsense publisher paranoia, I guess. But I am obviously the exception.

So I'll guess between 0 - 100%, depending upon a kazillion factors. Because of this, I don't think you can come up with any meaningful number that relates to anything, without defining a number of factors.

i think what he meant is after a search on google, do people usually click the #1 SERP or the #1 AdSense...

i personally read thru the snippet and decide from that, there is no set pattern.

Hi Mok,

If you are correct, I have NEVER clicked on a Google ad on the right, let alone the first one. But I see your point. I am abnormal.

I click by snippet also, and also URL, which is telling, after you have seen 8 billion of them - lousy pages URLs tend to "jump out".

Ah, but what do others do?
Is it possible that the split could be as high as 50% - half the searchers click on the #1 SERP first, and half click on the first right-side Google ad first?
