Question Expected CTR for text ads

Why does Keyword Planner show only 0.1%-0.2% CTR for my keywords?

Is it really that low even if I have an interesting text ad?

Well yes... the text is only one aspects and what interest you is the enticement of others to buy - right?

Maybe your interesting ad is too good to be true or actually prevents clicks?

Dear fathom, please note that now I speak about Keyword Planner, not an actual ad (as my book which I am going to advertise is yet with an editor).

If you are not running any ads the planner is merely speculating based on similar past campaigns.

You are best to hire a Campaign Manager as DIY consulting tends to produce less returns for greater costs than the fees to hire someone that has years of experience.

    Try KernelPanic for PPC.

They could well be that low on the display network...Not sure if the KW tool takes that into account though.

I tend to ignore all those Google estimated metrics anyway - first page bids, traffic volume etc. As you've alluded to, there are just too many variables under, and outside of, your control... And theyre generally unreliable Just have to run your ads and find out for yourself.

I've noticed the same thing and I just ignore it. I do all my calculations based on what I expect the CTR to be, not what the Google KW Planner says. I used to work at WordStream and did a lot of account audits for prospects. I don't recall ever seeing a CTR of 0.1% for Search Network ads. You might see that on the Display Network, but I doubt it on Search Network.
