Warnings, spam reports and a clean forum - PLEASE READ!

First of all a big thank you to all of the members who report spam they see... they help considerably to get the spam right away.

REPORTING SPAM!
Your reports do matter and we appreciate them so please keep them coming. Now SeoChat has seen very little abuse of this button yet I must ask that you don't report posts because you disagree with the user or because you have personal problems with them.

My main reason for posting this thread is because I know many members see the spam yet are not reporting it and worse are replying... unless there is salvageable good to a post there is no need to post in it.
Please do not post answering a question if a member has blatantly broken a rule...

For instance I just deleted two spam posts by a user who was promoting their software... a user replied to the thread yet did not send a report... PLEASE if you see spam or violations to our rules please report them. If you see a thread that is in the wrong category report it and make a suggestion in the form box where to move to... we aren't asking you to do the job of a mod just when you are bouncing through the forum and see something out of order just click that little ( ) button and let us know.

PM SPAMMING
I have banned 3-4 people recently for pm spamming... this is an offense yet I can't read your pms(thankfully :mrgreen so I need YOU to report it when users are spamming you... you can just send a PM to me or another mod with the details from the PMs and we will take care of it.

We need to know when users are abusing the PM feature so that we can take care of it... if you just ignore it(as many have) you allow that user to continue to abuse our forum. Please do not ignore it!

WARNINGS
If you have received a warning please do not discuss it on the open forum or in the shout box. Please send a PM to a mod or reply to the warning email you received.

Thank you for reading and hopefully

Top Spambuster

We value our spam reports so much that we award the top spambuster each month with a special icon

This is a small measure of our appreciation to members who go that extra mile to keep these forums clean.

WARNING
Any member who makes disparaging remarks - specifically relating to the award/status - against the holder of the Top Spambuster award (in threads or by PM) will be permanently banned.

fathom agrees: HaHaHa! ...can you give some examples of disparaging remarks so we don't accidently cross the
banning line.
tinaceer agrees: please give example

Not really... (use your imagination - lol)

I realise my post is a little "unspecific" but I created it in response to a user who was "top spambuster" for a month and was getting PM's accusing him of "being a sneak" etc...

Whilst some users (Hi Rod - lol) might be quite happy to respond to that sort of "provocation", there are others who could become nervous about reporting spam for fear of similar "reprisals".

I just wanted to "protect" that user at the time, and to make it quite clear that it won't be tolerated in future
