    Facebook ad and personal profile

Great forum! First post so here goes.
I would like to create an advert with the sole intention of sending targeted users to my website (it certainly looks good how targeted you can go with FB) but do not want any connection to my personal profile for now.
If create an advert (not a page) whilst logged in with my personal account will it show up anything in my personal profile?

I've looked on the FB community but cannot see this anywhere and trying to get hold of someone isn't exactly easy by the look of some of the others posts.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve.

If you create an ad and advertise on Facebook only those interested in the topics of that ad will see it. If those same people are your friends (in Facebook) you want to prevent friends from seeing you are advertising?

    Hello and welcome!

I'm also kind of confused about your goals. You didn't find anything helpful on this page? https://www.facebook.com/help/458369380926902/

I'll move this to the Facebook section of our forums, too

    hello!
it is my understanding the ads are separate to your profile thou. i am not talking about an ad for like or something that appears on time lines or news feeds. these ads run in the right hand column and only appear to people logged on who meet the criteria. for example, male 50-60 in a certain area, who have an interest in wine.

So this means you don't want to waste impression on them?

Any form of advertising have risks. A while back my business partner wanted to run an ad campaign on Facebook for an SEO business... I thought is was a stupid waste of $500 but he did it ... blew through $500 an 1 1/2 hours and not a hint of business.

But if I didn't let him attempt it "if only you let me advertise on Facebook we'd be rich" ... would never have heard the end of it.

It's a gamble... but people use Facebook not to find business solutions but for sharing time with friends, socializing, and entertainment. If you offer wine making equipment, photo-editing software or a game a perfect fit.

You do need to test the waters for sure... but unless you have massive amounts of friends that are interest in the topics I wouldn't worry about that.

    hi,
Thanks for your post and sorry for the delay in replying.
Yes, i dont really want to waste efforts on people not in my target audience.
I might have a little punt on it and see what becomes of it (if anything).
    Thanks for all the advice.

The thing is if they are not your target the ads won't appear. If you sell wine kits and they are interested in wine kits they are your target market.

Course I don't know how Facebook targets ads. I get match making sites and SEO Stuff. I'm single so ok that right and I have 2 SEO fan pages so that's right but if some of your friends align in ways you don't think about they could be your target audience.
