Multiple links on page to the same destination http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/multiple-links-page-same-destination-492983.html Sat, 23 Sep 2017 20:42:47 GMT So on a website you might have a clickable logo which links to the homepage...

In this case there is no real anchor text (don't want to trick Google)

For SEO I might want a SEO rich text anchor back to the home page.

I have read when Google See's two links on the page going to the same destination, it will only take notice of the first one it finds in the source.

Does anyone know if this is 100% accurate?

If this is accurate, one thing you could do is force via the structure and css to have the text link appear first in the source, but appear visually further down the page.

The trouble with this approach is that its not that a clean of a solution (I like my source to match the visual running order..)

So....

1) It is better to just leave a graphic link knowing that the solution is cleaner but the link wont be seen as massively relevant?
2) Change the source so the text link is first in the source but visually much lower down, and hope Google does not see this as spammy?
3) Kill the text link as your draining juice from the other links on the page...?
4) Its unlikely to make a massive difference? ]]>

We used to be based in Oxfordshire (uk) and we had half a dozen location based landing pages which tended to rank top 3.

When we moved to Dorset we needed to do the same and so the amount of landing pages have increased. (Links to the pages sit in the footer.)

Since then we have lost ground on the original pages and have not made up the difference with the new.

I put this down to link dilution.

Since then we have had more inbound links supporting the site and have not yet seen any progress.

On each landing page is a setcion of upto 10 linked articles which appear, which I believe dilute the 'jucie' further.

The Title and largest H tags have the target phrase as the first part of the tag..

Whats happening.

We changed the Title so it read 'search term | Brand' for most pages this improved things but for a couple of the pages they worked better when part of the search term was repeated (the location).

With the H1 the same sort of approach was made with the same effect

We also converted the block of ten linked articles to a just a single link, again for some of the pages we had an improvement but for some they went the other way...

So....

Advice for the Title and H1 please.

Also any idea why removing links from the page might have this effect. (On the article pages all the landing pages appear in the footer and there is an 'index' page for all the articles..)

Is there some sort of minimum amount of links Google likes to see on a page? (My site on page now has less in page links than my competition.) ]]>

Does anyone use US / UK press release distribution channels?
I am just about to try a premium package from PR newswire.
Just making sure if anyone has used any paid press release distribution network and has it delivered in terms of Business / Brand promotion or SEO benefits.

I am also considering pressreseasejet and PR(.com)
I have used PR distributions in India before with varying degrees of success. This is the first time I am using paid packages in US. Any inputs from current users of such services will be very helpful. ]]>

I am hoping someone can help me because I have literally spent hours trying to work out what is best and I am confused as hell as I keep reading conflicting advise.

My current situation is that my site loads in 2.9s with http but with https the site loads in 6.1s

But I have read that Google prefers https as opposed to http and will give a boost for sites that use https but I have also read that Google loves sites that load fast. So if I have to chose between fast http and slow https which is the better choice for seo with Google please?

I also see that a lot of people are saying that https makes their site load faster than http which certainly isn't the case in my instance but also that wouldn't make any sense because surely https would be an extra step to process so logically https should always be even a little bit slower than http?

Can anyone please unravel the mystery with this and tell me which choice to make and or why a SSL cert should slow the site down by nearly 4 seconds meaning does that sound normal?

Many Thanks

I have found several that have only been registered for 2-5 months yet they have 4,000 visits per day according to whois data. As an example
this site mocelli (will not put full link but it is a .com site) was only setup 2 months ago but gets 4,500 visits per day. It is just drop shipping cheap as watches from China. So my question is how the hell do they
get so many visitors within such a short period? Is it through advertising, or maybe they have a PBN setup. I would like to do some research on this but not sure how to proceed. So if anyone knows how they can pull this off please get back to me. I know you cannot rely on google rank alone to pull this off. ]]>

So as some of you know I have been working extremely hard on my google rankings, back links etc and managed to get my DA from 12 up to 22 where it
currently sits. I have been enjoying some success with a few keywords in the top 5 positions of google which has been great.
Now something happened on August 28th (and a little before that), I am not sure what but my site seems to have nose dived according to the SEMRUSH keyword ranking tool

any ideas why this would happen? I havnt picked up any toxic links (i also havnt update the site in about 2 weeks?)

scratching my head as the Statham Lodge Wedding keyword slowly climbed up to Position 3 for a week or two then suddenly went down again for no obvious reason? ]]>

1 sitemap.xml files have format errors http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/1-sitemap-xml-files-have-format-errors-492659.html Mon, 28 Aug 2017 14:23:15 GMT Hi Guys,

I ran a site crawl on semrush and it says "1 sitemap.xml files have format errors "

When I open my sitemap from semrush this is displayed at the top: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
Would you say this is reason my sitemap has format errors?

And one last question regarding my sitemap, I have given my homepage <priority>1.00</priority> and then most other pages have a <priority>0.80</priority> Did I do it right? Any other tips?

Thanks,

Claire. ]]>
