We have multiple pages from our own different sub-domains for same topics. These pages even rank in SERP for related keywords. Now we are planning to show only one of the pages in SERP. We cannot redirect unfortunately. We are planning to use rel canonical tags. But the page content is not same, only 20% is similar and 80% is different but the context is same. If we use rel canonicals, does Google accepts this? If not what should I do? Making header tags similar works? How Google responds if content is not matching? Just ignore or any negative score?

Thanks ]]>

Email Tracking http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/email-tracking-495718.html Tue, 17 Apr 2018 19:21:42 GMT Anyone use Mail Chimp? I have a client that has a lot of subscribers, and one of the reason their reporting is off, is because their email campaigns/newsletters aren't being properly tracking. Open Rate, CTR, Sessions are all tracked in GA, but the ecommerce tracking isn't picking up the sales. So they basically have this very large "unknown" channel when they report on revenue from online sales.

Their ecommerce tracking is properly enabled, and w/in MailChimp, they are connected to GA, and it's properly integrated. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't have a UTM parameter within the links of the email campaigns. Would that resolve the issue? Never used Mail Chimp, and it sounded like email tracking would be automated, so i didn't know if the parameters were necessary. Thanks! ]]>

How to find if a website has paid or spammy back-links? Latest ways to investigate. http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/how-find-if-website-has-paid-spammy-back-links-latest-ways-investigate-495710.html Tue, 17 Apr 2018 07:16:26 GMT Hi all,

I would like to investigate about our website back-links if something is wrong. If there are any paid or spammy back-links. How to proceed on this exercise? We have been using ahrefs and seems like it's quite enough. Is there any way we can pull out the fishy back-links? Do we have any helpful data from webmasters about this?

Thanks ]]>

dramatically drop. Some nearly 50% For example... a site that used to show for 800 different queries is now only showing for 450.

I have measured this in both search counsel and "The Hoth" rank monitoring tool.

I am wondering if others have experienced the same.

I am honestly not sure what queries did, in fact, drop off, as the movement didn't seem to be affecting my primary terms.
However, it is still alarming since I recently had a few guest post published on what I evaluated as safe sites. (Those sites also experience drops)

I had read in a Quora thread that this could possibly be a side effect of the search algo simply trying to refine site rankings to their most relevant serarch terms.
As a result, maybe all those queries that the sites used to rank for and no longer do were simply not closely related enough for my site content to display in search anymore.

Any thoughts?

Has anyone else experienced dramatic decreases in the volume of general key term rankings with out their primarys being effected over the past month? ]]>

<![CDATA[KW's at the start of titles]]> http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/kws-start-titles-495671.html Fri, 13 Apr 2018 22:32:46 GMT I know that keywords supposedly carry more weight if they're at the start of a title.

But, how much more weight?

I'm going to pretend I make bread here,

The main KW, "Bread Making Service"...

If one was to change A, to D, would you expect to see gains?

A- BreadMaker: #1 Bread Making Service | Free Bread for 30 days

B- BreadMaker: Bread Making Service | Free Bread for 30 days

C- #1 Bread Making Service - Free Bread for 30 days | BreadMaker

D- Bread Making Service Free Bread for 30 days | BreadMaker

Out of curiosity I was wondering if anybody had ran any tests, or seen positive/negative effects through moving your main KW from the start of your titles. I'd like to see exactly "how much weight" is added/deducted.

I understand that this is a small factor in the grand scheme of things, but I'd value anybodies opinion. ]]>

www.site.com/la/de/

The problem is this in terms of international SEO it is for the country Laos however we are not targeting the country Laos. But from dev the way our system is set-up we can't change the structure of the beginning of URL it must be constructed

Will Google definitely read this URL that it is targeting a country and language?

Many thanks,*

Our website is all about our software product. Generally our website pages are filled with 3 to 6 screenshots of our product features. As Google recently shifting to mobile index and pageload speed is going to be priority, we decided to compress the images on our pages and show the same images of large size in new window when someone clicks on a image. I wonder if this helps or has any disadvantages? Users may click on these clickable images while browsing the pages and may shift to new window to view the image. Will this have any negative impact on bounce rate? Please share your thoughts.

Just starting back looking at SEO and now have an SSL Cert for my site which with Google Chrome everyone will need eventually regardless sor security.

So in my Google Search Console for each domain I have 4 of them examples below
http://domain.com
http://www.domain.com

https://www.domain.com (redirected too)

Now the site has already been redirected to use SSL and the 301 perm redirect is in place so can I remove the other 3 properties?

In 2017, the head of Google Brain, Nick Frost, said this at a conference:

Google is now integrating machine learning into [the process of figuring out what the relationship between a search and the best page for that search is]. So then training models on when someone clicks on a page and stays on that page, when they go back or when they and trying to figure out exactly on that relationship.
So does this make a strong case for Google using user behavior metrics as ranking signals. ]]>

Does Google giving more important to internal pages than homepage recently? http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/does-google-giving-more-important-internal-pages-than-homepage-recently-495528.html Mon, 02 Apr 2018 05:08:39 GMT Hi everybody,

I can see the change Google brought in the SERP. Previously website homepages will be shown for primary keywords, now it's slowly and almost switched to showing most related internal pages in a website. You can check same for keyword "SEO", Most or all the results are internal pages. I can see this change for our primary keyword from last one month. So basically Google is trying to show a page explaining about the primary keywords rather than website, that's how "what is seo" pages are ranking than homepages. If there is no such pages existed or not well written, Google is just showing the website homepage. But I noticed that websites ranking with homepages are dropped compared to the websites with dedicated page about that primary keyword. Please share your thoughts.

Thanks ]]>
