Our duplicate website which is used for testing new optimisations got indexed and we dropped in rankings. But I am not sure whether this is exact reason as it happened earlier too where I don't find much drop in rankings. Also I got replies in the past that it'll not really impact original website but duplicate website. I think this rule applies to the third party websites. But if our own domain has exact duplicate content; will Google knows that we own the website from any other way we are associated like IP addresses and servers, etc..to find the duplicate website is hosted by us? I wonder how Google treats duplicate content from third party domains and own domains.

Thanks ]]>

I have a page listing youtube videos of the local attractions for the customers who visit my business. (I give them a courtesy car while I work on their vehicle).

At the moment it is a list of links. Should I embed the videos instead of just a list of links? Which will give me the most juice? The videos might be interesting to people besides my customers. What about a page for each video, maybe with a paragraph or two about the attraction in question? Or is that getting a bit ridiculous?

Click on the white button at the top of the page to go to the video page (I know, the meta stuff is pitiful!): 'before-n-after.co.uk/day_out1.htm' ]]>

Is Google banning certain words? http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/google-banning-certain-words-493989.html Sat, 09 Dec 2017 20:41:18 GMT

Is google blocking words from search results?
I optimized a page for the keyword "gun laws by state" which a month ago was getting thousands of searches. However now if I go into Google adwords I get 0 searches. Other keyword tools return the same results. I think it has to do with the word GUN as they dont want any advertising with words relating to weapons. This is bit of a worry as my web site is called Guns To Carry so will I get an SEO hit due to the name? and should I change the URL of the page Gun Laws By State ? ]]>

Does Google always spider from the USA? http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/does-google-always-spider-usa-493965.html Fri, 08 Dec 2017 07:28:53 GMT Hi,

I'm trying to figure out something. Since we moved our European based site (a hotel booking site for EU people) to the EU, Google seems to still be spidering us from the USA, and is getting quite slow speeds. European based users are getting < 1.9s on almost all requests - yet some of the USA ones are getting 11+ seconds (I've seen 22 seconds in some cases!)

What can we do about this? The site is set as being based in France, so I would have thought Google would spider from somewhere in the EU?

I have a feeling the speed they get when spidering, is something they take into consideration (not RUM , like we are seeing on Pingdom)

Thanks for any suggestions.

I just search the keyword on Google, how many types of SEO?
The first result I get is shocking, you can see in the image I am attached to the post below.
The website name is what is SEO and the information is wrong.
So, Google rank for the wrong information too. No matter of quality, it is just about how you optimized for the particular keyword.

Maybe this is normal, I don't know so I am hoping some one can look at the post and tell if I can leave it as is or do I need to change anything, thanks.

Co-mingling B2C and B2B content and SEO http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/co-mingling-b2c-b2b-content-search-engine-optimization-493869.html Fri, 01 Dec 2017 23:16:28 GMT I am the middle of debating if I should break off some of my content into a separate brand, and if so if I would be negatively impacted. So first the background.

I have my website Paris Creative and my primary focus is selling my wedding DJ services to prospective couples. I've generated some good quality content that the individual pages themselves rank well, and that overall I have generally OK organic pull into my site. It could be better, but with the battle of being a wide area serving business in a Google local world has it's own challenges.

The rub in this is my content that I have been making for the peers in my industry. It's isn't a ton, but I could see more articles that are focused on a technical nature, industry specific issues, and the like being placed there. While I am not losing sleep of having both modes of content on my site I am starting to wonder if I should separate them out by placing my B2B content on another brand/doman.

My concern is that content brings in eyeballs, and certainly is a good chunk of my visitor traffic. So if I did break off this content it could bring far less people to the current site.

The other concern is if content that is more B2B focus continues to be the driving force will Google start to weigh my other content less.

Thoughts? ]]>

However, recently this year i have seen alot of sites start climbing in the rankings for our niche.

There is nothing spectacular about the websites. Very little content, keyword stuffing, 1-2 year old domains, poor page speed scores and a lot of other factors I can see that would actually bring their rankings down.

However, one detail i've noticed about all of them is they all run Google Adsense ads. (and alot of them stuffed on the homepage)

Our site and a few others who do not run Adsense have fallen even after spending better part of a decade in the top 1 or 2 for our targetted keywords, only to see them being taken over by websites which have no reason to be there except that they run Google Adsense.

Any others noticed this?

I have not tracked other keywords and only focus on our niche but wondering if this is now a new ranking signal.

I guess from Googles perspective, it could be seen as a ranking signal because "Adsense approved" sites are supposed to have quality content. So, why not help out Google's bottom line by bumping up websites that use Adsense. ]]>
