The article is titled Google Does Not Use Pogo-Sticking As a Ranking Factor.

It's probably best that we clarify the issue here before we start referring to this article as exhibit A (lol) if we happen to defend "pogo sticking as not a ranking factor".

Is it? Or is it not?

I'm a bit disappointed with the author or whoever is responsible for the article title. They quoted John Mueller as saying "We try not to use signals like that when it comes to search." And yet the title assumes that Google does not use pogo-sticking as a ranking factor. Mueller said "THEY TRY NOT TO". That doesn't really equate to "THEY DO NOT".

Anyways, seems like we'd still have more luck trusting what our users want, instead of what Google employees publicly declare.

Your Experience Performing In House SEO http://forums.seochat.com/search-engine-optimization-28/your-experience-performing-house-search-engine-optimization-497002.html Thu, 19 Jul 2018 17:34:37 GMT Howdy, I am an SEO Manager for a large SaaS company. I've been here for 7 months and increased organic traffic
by ~30%. The problem is, I've done most everything I know how to do. I'm used to working in an agency where
the work never stops flowing, but I've hit a point where all the work I'm doing now has little impact or diminishing returns.

If you work(ed) SEO in-house, what did you do after you'd fixed the big problems and picked all the low hanging fruit?

What things can I do that will continue to create big SEO wins after all the big fixes have been made?

Thanks,

Infolinks is slowing down my website. http://forums.seochat.com/search-engine-optimization-28/infolinks-slowing-down-my-website-496970.html Wed, 18 Jul 2018 10:08:28 GMT The ad network Infolinks is killing my website's speed. After pasting their code to the site, the website's
speed deteriorated really, really bad. It went from less than 2 seconds loading speed to 11s (according
to GTmetrix analysis). I tried temporarily removing the code and the speed went back to normal.
What do I do? Can they do something about it if I contact them? I can't use Google AdSense because
they banned me for 'not having sufficient traffic.'

Hi all, I have recently upgraded my website from http to https and everything seems to be indexing nicely. I have updates all internal links from
http to https but I still have a problem

My website that I have upgraded to is https://www.famestreet.com but I am still getting errors in Semrush

I am getting 'duplicate content issues' being told that I have duplicate
tags for the following pages...

https://www.famestreet.com and https://www.famestreet.com/

The only difference is the '/' and I just dont know how to fix this. I only want the first version to be indexed. I dont want Google to index the following:

http://famestreet.com
https://famestreet.com
www.famestreet.com
https://www.famestreet.com/

I only want https://www.famestreet.com to be indexed.

How can I cure this whole 'duplicate content' issue.

I have posted my .htacess file below if that helps

Many thanks
Terry

We have a new site ready to lauch, it will be taking over from our current site and all redirects will be put in place for each page pointing from the old site to the new site. The owners of the business are very worried about the potential loss in organic traffic that could occur when we launch. I have been told many times before that Google may drop your rankings when launching because it is a big change. Is it still the case that Google will need to crawl the site a few times before ranking it? How long would it usually take before we regain our organic positions? And do you have any advise for us to minimise organic traffic loss during the launch period?

Thanks,
Chris

Now I want to make sure that there is no issue from google if we link all the ccTLD's from main domain and vice versa.

My shopping cart is pretty old. I bought it around 10 years ago. or longer (vevocart)
While the cart works its no longer supported and keeping it going as the web changes costs money and time.
so it is not really fit for purpose anymore.
Does anyone recommend any shopping carts in particulair ?
I have thousands of categories and products so I need to be able to bulk import and export.
I'd like one that's fairly mainstream as my last one wasnt so I want a "mainstream one" so I can use plug ins rather than hiring developers to add basic features, up to date in terms of good SEO practices,
any thoughts / experiences with carts would be great !

I have tried several tools in order to find the position of some websites for specific keywords, but I get totally different results.
On the other hand, I cannot go manually and try every different kw at the Google results, so I am wondering if there is something out there that is considered to be reliable.

So far, I have tried:
- Semrush Position Tracking
- Fatrank Chrome extension
- seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/keyword-position.html

Any proposals for more accurate results?

Srape and translate http://forums.seochat.com/search-engine-optimization-28/srape-translate-496858.html Mon, 09 Jul 2018 17:41:11 GMT HI there

If you want to have a large site that sells many "thousands of products" could you set up an ecommerce site by scraping and translating a simlair site
that sells the same products but that is from a different country/language?

The point would be to generate the correct categories and linked products without having to start your product /category file from scratch

The descriptions would be different as the scrape would translate them from say German to Spanish.

You could spend a day or 2 tidying it up before updating the data to your own site.

would this short cut work?

any thoughts appreciated !
