I put bot in the title for quick understanding of my question I'm thinking of generating urls and meta tags individually from a system. I think it may be a solution to reputation control.

So here is a very rough outline of the system:

I carry out a treatment on vehicles. I am commissioning a CMS system. This will have an admin page to generate the "customer page" which will have images of the car treated and certain "annotations" added by myself. If the customer wishes, the public can bid for the owner's car. (The button to bid will appear or not apper on the owner's car, depending on the owner's wishes). The customer will also be given a limited version of the admin page where they can enable/disable certain buttons. Joe public will have a search page with filters where they can look for a car that meets their criteria and bid for it.
I'm writing the specifications now and I'm wondering what to do about URL's and meta tags. I'm thinking that part of the URL and meta title and meta description could be automatically generated to match a detail of the car. /model-day-month or similar.

With a car done just about every day, this would give me hundreds of pages, each with their own url and meta tag.

Now I imagine that this would get right up google's nose and I would be penalised. So I don't think it's wise to implement it. But I'm just putting it out there. Who knows, there might be a way of doing this that could work. I have a particular problem with competitors who use forums to get som BS to appear just under the entry for my business name on the SERP. Dozens (or hundreds ) of entries on the SERP would push the BS entries right down.

Note that I am not implementing the system for reputation control purposes but it has just occurred to me that it could also serve this purpose.

Your thoughts please

When I studied the data of last 2 months I came to know that there was some fishy activity, may be from my client's competitor.
So what i observed in the data was that there was 100% bounce rate for direct hits. That means if there was a direct traffic of 10 the bounce rate for all the 10 users was 100%. And these stats were increasing day by day that means at present there are 60 direct hits on a day and all are 100% bounces. when i refined my GA report i Found that every time the city was diffeent i.e from different parts of USA (website is India based).
Every hour there was a hit and a bounce from different cities. How should I approach this problem? as this is affecting the website organic ranking!

Should I 301 redirect really old pages? http://forums.seochat.com/google-optimization-7/should-i-301-redirect-really-old-pages-493720.html Tue, 21 Nov 2017 04:51:39 GMT On google webmaster, I'm showing accurate 404 errors for really old pages that no person is searching for.

I used to redirect everything - but my htaccess file was cluttered and my site was slow. So I deleted most of the redirects to links that users weren't using.

Since google is still crawling them - is it better to add the redirect or let it remain a 404 error?

Thank you!

SEO Migration Options http://forums.seochat.com/search-engine-optimization-28/search-engine-optimization-migration-options-493718.html Tue, 21 Nov 2017 03:55:35 GMT Hi Guys,

We have a www.sitename.com.au domain name and looking to move into the US market, and other markets in the future such as UK, Canada, etc.

We are reviewing our options. Currently the .com.au is ccTLD to Australia so won't perform well in US.

It seems the best option at this stage is to get a generic domain Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) like a .com.

Then create different sub-folders for each country for example:

.com our main country

.com/us/ target us

.com/uk/

Then in Google Search Console don't set country targeting for entire domain but use Hreflang Tags to specify the targeting for each page?

--

This seems like a complex strategy to execute so i just want to check if this would be a optional option?

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Cheers.

My logo and strap

Lets keep the idea simple. One title and one paragraph of text.

As html 4

my title

My paragraph of text

And we might have it in a page that contains a header and footer

My logo and strap

my title

My paragraph of text

footer details

If we move it to html5 we now have some additional elements to help...

So you might convert to

logo and strap

my title

My paragraph of text

footer details

Now technically thats ok, but when Google see the markup its going to see logo and strap either as the 'main' title or worse still pretty much ignore
my title

This is because in the html5 documents,
does not really mean 'top of the page', but the header to the most 'important' part of our content.

So recently I implemented (there is other content on my page, but to keep it simple)

my logo and strap

my title

My paragraph of text

footer details

Part of what I want to do with SEO copy is have my h1 seo copy as close to the supporting text as possible, so my fixation with putting a h1 (seo phrase) at the top of the source has to stop.

In addition if we accept that Google 'understands' html5 markup, then the function of
is not that different to
and in that respect for the example page its not actually at the top but further down where the contact starts...

What Im interested in hearing about is from people who disagree with this idea and most importantly why?

Wont be offended and will really appreciate answers as Im fascinated with how HTML5 markup impacts SEO in away that just does not happen in HTML4.

Our log-in page is ranking in SERP instead of homepage and some times both pages rank for the primary keyword we targeted. We have even dropped. I am looking for a solution for this. Three points here to consider is:

 1. Our log-in page is the most visited page and landing page on the website.
 2. Even there is the primary keyword in this page or not; same scenario continues
 3. Log-in page is the first link bots touch when they crawling any page of our website as log-in page is linked on top navigation menu

If we move login page to sub-domain, will it works? I am worrying that we loose so much traffic to our website which will be taken away from log-in page sub domain

Please guide with your valuable suggestions.

Thanks

I would like to block part of a website page from Google/Bing/Yahoo index. Is this possible?

I found a resource that recommends putting the "blocked" content in an html file, like excluded.html, and using an iframe to add the content to the landing page. Has anyone tried this?

Here's the resource:
