I'm reading USA Today and this guy Mark Hughes has come out with a new book
about how to promote your company and generate buzz? According to the article: "Half.com was sold in 2000 to eBay in a deal valued at more than $300 million." Here's my question ..... Would you write a book if you were sitting on $300 Million??? (I am certain this dude didn't net the whole chunk of change, but he's got to be doing really really well.) Yes I would, I love to share information and get feedback from people. The worst thing you could do if you were suddenly rich is sit back and not try and make any change. The best part of life is the experiences.

I am sure that it is safe to assume that this guy is always learning new and innovative ways to conduct business and market ideas. It's in his blood.

Yes! how many authors were millionaires when they wrote their most recent book? Having a lot of cash in the bank doesn't make someone want to stop sharing their knowledge.

I'd do more than that... I'd write a book, give all the proceeds from the book to charity (of my choice), give a huge chunk of my money to charity. I'd keep about 40% of the money and give away the rest... and give away all the proceeds from the book.

I've had the good fortune of meeting some extremely successful, extremely wealthy people. Bootstrappers who built their wealth themselves.
What strikes me about all of them is that there is never an end game. Call it something to prove, call it a chip on their shoulder, whatever. They always have to do more, bigger, better. For one I know it's become a zero-sum game for him - all he knows is winning or losing, and the dollars seem (to me, anyway) to be secondary. So it doesn't surprise me that much that someone with that much wants more. But if it were me, I'd be buying a chunk of land on Maui and throwing away my winter clothes. |

So let me get this straight.
A guy has $300 million in the bank and he is writing a hook to make more money. Would i ****! I would be sat on a beach somewhere exclusive eating doughnuts and drinking beer from virgins navels. |

I saw a poll recently where the majority of millionares don't consider themselves "rich". Its partly that mindset that has been an integral part of their success in the first place.
They aren't happy with 1 million or 300 million. Its the sucess that drives them and the reason they will continue to take on new ventures, write books etc. As far as the exact reason someone who is already a millionare might write a book, look at movie stars that try to launch singing careers, etc. They could obviously be sitting on a beach somewhere but its about more than the money. |
