Which Merchant Account Do You Use
I currently use First Data and have YourPay as my gateway. My discount rate is 2.34% but the customer service is pretty good.
I was wondering which companies you all use and if you could offer any feedback on them. My contract is almost up and I'm considering switching to another company. Thanks! |

They're just a payment gateway. They do not actually process credit cards. Your merchant account provider takes care of that. Last edited by stymiee : February 21st, 2008 at 11:58 AM. |

Keep in mind that of you switch you'll have two options: 1) Stay with a provider that supports YourPay. YourPay basically is just a rebranded Linkpoint gateway. The Linkpoint gateway only works with First Data. So your options are limited as to who you can choose to be your new provider as they must be able to get you a merchant account with First Data. 2) Be willing to get a whole new provider and gateway. This means you will be able to get lower rates (most likely). It also means your website will need to be changed. If you use an existing shopping (i.e. x-cart, oscommerce, etc) switching should be easy and inconsequential. If you have a custom coded website this means it will need to be rewritten to work with the new gateway's API. |

Chase Paymentech. Superb customer support, lowest rates in the industry, more transactions than any other company in the world.
Most of these other smaller companies are just reselling the Chase Paymentech service. Go straight to the source and cut out your middle man.

We use Wells Fargo through the Authorize.net gateway + a PayPal commercial account. Gives our users many ways to go... credit cards, PayPal, checking account, etc. in any currency.

we use paypal. But there is a hight fraud rate, you are only protected if you ship to the confirmed address. Sometimes the credit card holder is not a paypal member and if they file a chargeback we will not be covered because of the non-confirmed address.

We use Authorize.net and Global Payment. That's worked well for us.
