Where do you sell your products ?

Dear Forum
There are hundreds of different websites(auctions, marketpalces) where you can start sell anything. Everybody knows Ebay but how about the other sites?
It would be very useful if we could make a list of such places describing what goods are the bestsellers for one place.
For example, ioffer dot com is the best for selling brandname ladys bags and HQ haberdashery.
Can you continue ?

ha,,,I guess I know why there are no posts here - nobody wants to have competitors on his market, or nobody is a seller here

Why not? If you are tricky you can build your own optimized pages on an Ebay store.... and they have a lot of authority in the SERPs.

JagNet agrees: Using eBay's dominance for your own commercial advantage can prove to be very beneficial

I know of several shops that use both their own store front and eBay, giving them two opportunities instead of one to be found. For a new store this can serve as much for advertising their own site as for selling items.

Also consider the thousands of eBay affiliates - your products could end up on far more websites thanks to eBay's extensive affiliate program.

It's also worth considering Amazon - again, their affiliate program is also wide spread, potentially putting your product in front of far more people than would otherwise be the case.

Is it recommended to have an ebay store as well as a website to sell products? Since ebay seems to hold some juice on SE's, would thinking you could target more competitive kw's on an ebay store be a sound thought?

It's certainly worth a try. Ultimately having your own store is going to give you more opportunity to optimise your on-page factors than an eBay store, but the massive trust and authority weighting that Google gives eBay is going to outweigh that for newer stores (for one search time I was looking at today, eBay had 7 out of the 10 positions on the first page!).

But eBay's popularity extends it's usefulness beyond SEO, as I mentioned above regards affiliates etc.

Asia Business Market

I want to expand my business into Asia.

The problem I'm facing now is which payment gateway to go for?

I found a list of Asia Company on some random website previously.

Then I did some research on each of them, I picked out one that is quite interested.

Payment Asia

Do you guys think this is worth a try?

Ebay is a nice site for offers. Some forums also have marketplaces where you can sell your product or services. Other opt for PPC (pay-per-click) and affiliates to sell. IMO, a good mix of different ways is very effective as the more places you advertise your prodcuts, the more exposure it gets and the more likely it increases your chances of conversion ;) Just stay away from sites with bad reps ;)

Thanks.

The reason why I want to go with my own site is because I want to have this setup seriously like a business entity. If sell it on eBay you are still using other company's platform whereas by setting up my own web site I can build my own branding and loyalty in long term. However I will still have eBay sales in parallel to start with for promotion and balance up the sales (as I dont know how much sales can come with a web site to start with).

It comes to my consideration on the following parts:
- Development (Web Site)
- Payment Gateway (Online Payment Solution)
- Advertising and Marketing (PPC or banner ads or eBay)

Need to sort out each single items. I have sent emails out to different providers in this categories and waiting for responses. Let see.

Out of curiosity, what are the number of sales some of you are seeing per month? I am not sure what a reasonable amount of sales would be. I know that it depends on the products you are selling but just looking to see the # of sales some others are experiencing. Feel free to PM me if you dont want to be public about it.

I apologize if that is an ignorant question. That is not my intention.

I am currently doing around 15k - 25k USD monthly sales on ebay and the listing fees somehow kills most of the profit. I feel like I am in a bottleneck and that's why seeking for different ways to expand. Setting up a web site is one approach and targeting Asia market is another one. Actually this is not up from my head I have seen some of my friends doing this with better return in long term that's why I am trying to the same thing.

For web site I am thinking on using some open-source code (osCommerce?!) platform with Asian Languages included. I know a bit Chinese but still need to look for local support.
For Payment Gateway I have sort out some in Asia which provides me acceptable rates and good reference list so now finalizing it (ccAvenue, PaymentAsia, UnionPay etc)
For Advertising I have asked my cousin who lives in HK and he told me Yahoo Keyword Search is being very popular so I might go with that. He also mentioned some local search engines but I have no ideas on how to make a start on it. Well, how much to spend here will depends on how much I have left after getting the web site done.

I need to gather more advices so feel free to comments here
