Thinking about adding PayPal

I have been thinking about adding PayPal as an alternative payment method on my site. Not as a replacement to my existing merchant account but to complement it.

One of the biggest areas of feedback I get is that people don't trust my site to properly take care of their credit card information and not buy from me for that reason. PayPal seems to offer a solution to that problem because now they have the option of not giving me their cedit card info and still making a purchase.

Any feedback on this issue?

I've used paypal for years. Lost a total of 3 sales (that I know about) because people didn't trust paypal. Made tons of sales via paypal. Choice is good. I say go for it.

PayPays a great addition to any business, not using PayPal is like only accepting VISA, sure you'll make sales and things will appear fine but accepting both VISA & MasterCard will add in extra sales as so people have VISA and not MasterCard or ones max and so on, and with PayPal many people use it more often then a credit card and at the same time many people who don't have a credit card make use of PayPal.

Add to this that PayPal doesn't cost you a dime to setup or use and PayPal's fee's are lower then most 3rd party merchant accounts so its not only free to have if someone actually uses it it can bring in more profits thanks to lower transaction cost.

So would I use PayPal, yes, do I use it, yes, in fact here in Asia we refuse to use anything but as we don't want to support the over priced under valued services in this region and we have all our clients that wish to pay via CC use PayPal, better for both parties in the end.

My per transaction fees are better with my merchant account so I would prefer if people pay directly with their credit card but if they don't have a credit card or if they don't feel comfortable giving me their credit card information I want to be able to let them use PayPal. I think I will place PayPal as the last payment option on my drop down so I still encourage people to go through straight credit card payments first.

Thanks for positive feedback with PayPal as you made my decision easier... start taking payal payments!

One more thing what is up with the $10 charge back? Much higher than what I pay with my merchant account... I know a PayPal transaction has much more fraud prevention going on in their processing than traditional merchant accounts, but what worries me the most is the phising problems they have beeen having!

I can handle a credit card charge back from them but if a customer is using Paypal funds or transfering from a linked bank account than why would I be subject to a charge back if those types of purchases are disputed? They don't have to pay for that so why should I?

Don't know. Never had a chargeback, so didn't even realize what the fee was.

What shopping cart do you use?

I was thinking about adding paypal as a form of payment since as of right now i only accept visa and mastercard but i heard that if i add it as a form of payment and after they go throught the order process in the shopping cart online I would have to send them an invoice and they can't pay through the shopping cart. Or maybe this is just the yahoo shopping cart i'm not sure. But I would like it if people could pay with paypal during the shopping cart checkout and dont' go to the confirmation page unless there done paying with paypal rather then me sending them an invoice. You think if i contact paypal they could help me set this up or is it not possible?

I don't use a shopping cart. Just a Buy Now button. But that doesn't sound right to me. Still it may be because your cart doesn't allow it. I don't know.
