Store Front Review

Can you please look at my webstore.
I have been getting 250 Direct visits a day but not many
sales.
I think the front page is a bit poor.
It's doing well serp wise so I am loathed to change it too much.
Be gentle with me.
I am no copy writer or graphical designer.

To me it doesn't really look like a commercial storefront. It looks like a picture gallery and if I was searching for furniture I would not really know it was a furniture store.

I would take a look at some of the wonderful websites out there and see how they have their stores setup - maybe get a little help from a designer/graphics and get it tuned up a bit.

There are also plenty of commercial styles templates you can just use and plug your info in if you do not want to play with the design too much.

A storefront like llbean or crateandbarrel would be cool - not too difficult as far as design. If you need some help let me know - I'll see if I can't help you design the front page.

Improving conversion rate is something that I am working on right now... I am reading, getting advice, and most importantly experimenting. I am not an expert but I have seen from personal experience that some small changes can MULTIPLY your sales.

Your homepage needs to WHAM.... Impress the visitor.... play your strongest cards on the homepage.... here are some ideas...

1) you have a lot of wasted space at the top of your page... I would use only one corporate logo (you have two.. the top banner and the black button)... I would put my best logo at top of page... this will move more of your products into view. Show the visitor that you have variety in their first glimpse of your site.

2) Get some site navigation on the purple bar at the left... again show that you have variety and give the visitor some options to click on.

3) Appeal to the visitor... tell them what you offer beyond the keywords such as "Pine Beds".... do you also offer "fast service".... "Lowest Prices"..... "free delivery".... 250 varieties.... "highest quaility"...... Whatever you offer beyond the merchandise should be communicated. Buyers want low prices, fast delivery, lots of options to shop for... if you have this communicating it loud and clear in the first view is very important.

Inside, I see that you have pop-ups for closer views of your products. Check these out to be sure that they are not being killed by the popup blockers that many people are now using... also when they open, your featured product should be nicely framed.

Thank you for your advise.
I guess the key is using buzz words and making the
web page interesting.

I have put a 1 second redirect from my optimized home page to the webstore front page .
I have added some image and text free delivery and satisfaction guarnteed what do you think?
Will the redirect upset Google?
Its only forwarding the user to the next level down on the the same site.

I would not suggest you use a 1-second redirect, Google may consider it an attempt at cloaking. which is basically what you are attempting to do - deliver one page to the search engines and another to visitors. Your site can get banned for this. I'd rework your front page so it has the sales info you want your customers to see but optimized for the SE's.

Nice improvement... I like this new page.

I've never used redirects because I worry too much... I'd hate to risk my rankings.

I am wondering if this new page would rank better than your original - plus get you into the SERPs for more keywords.

The only problem is the structure of the website.
I used Actinic to develop it and it creates folders and put files in them so a small change is a nightmare pointing everything to the new location.
I do think the store page looks much better.
I will try some offline tinkering to see how difficult it will be.

I have had a sale within 4 hours of changing my storefront.
Hope this isn't a blip :-)
