Recurring Billing

Hi everyone, new member here.

I was hoping for some feedback regarding the pros and cons of implementing recurring billing. Does anyone have any experience of this facility within their site as I have a subscription based site and Iam thinking of changing the payment to recurring, I understand that this may bring in more income but does this also bring in a lot of headaches from customers that did not want this (even though they had the option top opt out). Could this bring in more income or could it actually put of members from joining and more chargebacks or is this a facility that members really do use.

Thanks

There's nothing really different about recurring billing as opposed to a regular payment. But it does sound like you intend to force this on your members against their will which would be a problem. Naturally forcing any credit card charge against someone's will will be a virtually guaranteed chargeback. If you run a subscription website simply inform members that their credit card will be charged on a monthly basis when they sign up. If they don't like it then they just won't join. You'll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't want to be charged regularly for their membership. It's just generally accepted that is how it works.

Isn't normally a problem particularly if monthly... I won't do this for yearly re-occurring without sending advance notice of the charge's due-date.

Hi Im not sure if I came accross correct with my original question as I have not intention of forcing recurring billing on any one. My question was at the moment i do not give my members the option for recurring billing, Is it worthwhile changing it to give them the option or not, does it generate more money or more headaches

That really depends on what your offerings are and the buyers you attract.

Sometimes it is a case for more revenue... and others more headaches... only you can determine the final outcome based on your offerings, markets, and re-occurring schedule.

Lots of sites use recurring billing for subscriptions. If you run a subscription site it would be normal and a great way to make your life easier. It won't make you any more money then you do now though.
