Question on sub-domains
Hi, I manage a large e-commerce website and would like to know would it help SEO to have sub-domains for a site that has everything from paint to bedding? for example have paint.xxxx.com and bedding.xxxx.com?
Thank you. |

Using sub-domains for the sake of using them adds no benefit.
If you add some large resource [or growing large] to an existing website it may make sense but in general if you're only going to move paint paint products to a paint subdomain and bedding to a bedding subdomain... you are wasting your time. |

No, adding sub domains to a site does not help.

Creating subdomains doesn't help to search engine ranking. Apart from that it gives you an extra headache as you need to optimize subdomains as seperate websites.

Instead, you may choose to create sub folders.
They are easy to optimize (organically) and you do not need to start from scratch all over again. |
