Payments method... I need advice...

Hello all...

Currently, I have Paypal.com as the company to process the payments in my site, renting paris apartments for tourists.

When a potential customer get to the Paypal.com page to complete his purchase, he get the login page- where he need to create an account and than he will be able to complete his purchase...

Few people already told me that I have to change Paypal to other company because if they were customers on my site, they would probably not login because it's deter them to create new account while they could just put name, CC number and validation of the card to complete the purchase...

Just thought to ask what you have to say about it. Do u agree with them? What do u do on your website... if there are any good, trustable companies likes paypal that you can suggest me to use...

Thanks in advance for any comment...

Guy.

Where are you located? I ask because answers to all your questions depend a lot on your location. If you are in Europe, only offering Paypal will definately cut your sales as most Europeans don't like them (they have no plans on doing away with the sigup here and their verifications are roundabout to say the least.) About 1 in 30 of my sales use Paypal and they always already have established accounts.

Also, as far as payment processors, this depends also a great deal as to where you are.

If you aren't in Europe, I will leave it to others. If you are, I will offer my two cents.

Paypal no longer requires a user to create an account.

Create a Merchant account, get a good cart, and sign up for an online credit ard processor. All this will cost about 300-500 to set up. It may be cheaper with your hosting company as many already have a cart just get a merchant account. The difference in this is night and day to paypal. If you plan on a long term business this is a must. First place to check is your hosting company. Then if you need help with a good online processor or cart be happy to let you know who I use. God Bless Joe

Yep. This is what I got from them 2.
They told me that because I am located in Paris, there is nothing to do about it- it's not their fault that things are going that way.

CDX - I am also in Europe and I learned a valuable lesson when I blindly went with a US company called mypaysystems. Although they were quite cheap to open an account (and had reasonable per transactions), it turned out I actually didn't have my own account with them. Basically I was on one big account with hundreds, if not thousands of others. In that situation, you risk having your account closed if others are getting a high number of chargebacks. They actually ended up going under with no notice and still owe me a bit of money.

I learned that cheap start up fees in Europe can cost you big time over the long run. I now use Worldpay and Love it! Their address verification is better than any other one I have come across and they always answer questions quickly. They also provide a customer service phone number that they actually answer (it may even be 24 hours but i can't remember)

As far as cost, it was about 250-300 euro to set up (that includes the yearly fee too) and it is pretty cheap at the per transaction as they do not add a charge PER transaction, just a % - Thats great if you get a lot of small orders. Be sure to ask for a discounted first year deal and they will do it.

I use them with www.romancart.com and it is seamless. None of the dropped sales like paysystems had and my conversion rate with Paypal was around 5% , whilst offering both put me up around 90% (that conversion rate is once they got to the cart, not all visitors)..If you want high conversion rates, you have to go with a professional processor, period. In the US people are more forgiving and will fill out a Paypal form etc but I've noticed Europeans trust what is easy and secure. Paypal doesn't have a great reputation and at one point I was getting a better conversion rate with cheques (which is amazing)

I've heard many complaints about Worldpay's US division but please don't post those here as us Europeans have much different issues. The UK division is excellent and I havent had one single issue with them yet. They do direct deposit in Ireland but you will have to check for France. Feel free to PM me if you want more info....Cheers

I've been using ikobo.com for the last 1 year and had no major problems so far, even though some people say bad things about this company..

People say bad things about every company.
Check out the security alerts and use your discretion.
If the overwhelming feedback is bad then avoid, but if its just a few people dissing it you normaly find it to be ok.

Red face

Get a simple cart that accepts all CC.....remember that alot of sales across the baord will increase with impulse purchases, and many quick forms of payment.

2checkout (no, no affiliate program here) is good, affordable quick and easy to set-up.
