Payment processing companies

Hi All,

I am currently developing a Joomla site with the Virtue Mart shopping cart plugin. I am planning on using Moneris to do the EFT to the bank account and am currently considering the following payment processors:

psigate
merchant-accounts
beanstream

Has anyone had experience with any of these payment processors? All the transactions will be deposited into a Canadian bank account. Does anyone have any recommendations as to other companies to use?

Also, do you think I need to have a Verisign security certificate on the site? If there is anything else that I should do, please let me know because this is my first e-commerce site. If there are other good customizable shopping cart plugins to consider, please let me know.

Thanks,

Jeanette

Authorize.NET / PayPal

For e-commerce you want a merchant account that's reliable, but, also the most affordable. Since you're just starting out you're probably not selling too much and won't get a discount for higher sales volume.

I'd look into Authorize.NET and PayPal Merchant services before you go with anyone. You need an SSL Cert, but, it doesn't have to be Verisign. A lot of sites are going with GoDaddy.com or other discounted SSL cert providers.

PayPal Merchant Pro

I use Paypal Merchant services. This is not just a paypal link anymore... they take all credit cards like authorize.net.
The rates are very good if you do over 10k in sales a month.
