OsCommerce Shopping Cart / GoDaddy issues

Okay, here's one for all the E-Com wizards:

3 days ago, our sales stopped. We found out today that when a visitor tries to put an item into their cart, they receive a 'please enable cookies' error screen. We haven't changed a thing! And GoDaddy says they haven't changed a thing either.

Facts relevant to this case:

1) We have 4 sites, all on GoDaddy, that are all having the same issues. 1 is our bread-and-butter (updated frequently, etc), 1 is updated every month or so, 1 received attention about 6 months ago (with no changes in the interim), and 1 is a scratch-built site that we created today for testing purposes. All use OsCommerce w/OsCommerce shopping cart.

2) The problem starts before the customer is supposed to get to an SSL screen. Meaning that the fact that we have our own SSL and not a shared SSL is seemingly not relevant in this case.

3) We have toggled on and off cache and 'force cookies' about a hundred times with no discernable difference in performance from the websites.

4) We cleaned out the /tmp cache.

5) We're tired of this problem and are losing money/cred.

Help!

In response to this problem, I think we're going to switch hosting companies. Can anyone recommend a good hosting company?

I would suggest Aplus.net hosting.

With free shopping carts it's very difficult to get a reliable support, so we are using paid shopping cart -Avactis shopping cart. And their support is reliable (they usually answer within 2-3 hours).

Regarding oscommerce I would suggest to post your questions at oscommerce forums . You may get answers faster there. But answers are not guaranteed :-( .

there is a flag in admin which says whether or not to force use of cookies?

its under configuration->Sessions

just make sure its set to false, if you do that it shouldnt give you the error

but anyhow if its giving you this error on every transaction it means that you are not configured properly for cookie use

so you should also check the setttings in your configure.php file
