Optimized E-commerce site

I work for a company in need of an e-commerce site to have 5,000-10,000 products, in 7-8 categories, searchable by 8-12 different parameters. The site will also need to be well optimized, as the industry is pretty competitive. Any advice on how to choose the right firm to do this for us?

Check their portfolio. Have they made anything like that in the past that is successfully optimized?

You need someone who...

understands SEO as well as business. Getting an e-commerce site is only one piece of the puzzle. Once that's done, how are you going to handle orders and the shipping process? You need someone who can write a system to fit your existing business' needs.

Anybody know of a good company? We know what we're looking for, just don't know anyone who can do it.

That's just it, we don't know who to go to for it. We've looked at a few firms, but none of them seem like they can do a quality job. Either they're "good" at SEO (which none of them have proven outside of their own websites), or they're good at building e-commerce. No one seems to know both, but that's what we're really hoping for.

I assure you...

there are folks who know both and can prove it. You just probably haven't contacted them yet.

is money no object?

i have been looking at a company called target em... you can see how well the code is written at realgoodfuniture dot com ... but it's about a 5K solution for the setup... it's a re written oscommerce store that is very SEF...

I don't plan on using them being it's out of my budget but the may be worth looking into for your comapny

My company, Cybernautix, uses total ecommerce systems from White-box-solutions dot com to build client sites that need professional-level service. This system is incredibly flexible, and we have developed onsite SEO using dynamic data. Thousands of products are easily databased because the system is able to use Microsoft SQL Server - an example being youreableshop dot co.uk. Examples of other sites using this solution include solgar dot co.uk and flourishjewellers dot co.uk, to name a couple.

I could suggest Netconcepts dot com, know them for years, they are really good professionals. I attended their web seminar related to big dynamic site SEO few weeks ago, it was quite impressive

Please check this thread for more info on seo for dynamic sites:
