Newsletter Subscription Software

Hello All-

I am looking for Newsletter Subscription Software to use for my newsletter email list. I have tried searching the web for a solution but have come up short. By far, most offered are hosted on the sellers servers and therefore incur a monthly charge usually broken down per email. Most of the stand alone software I have some across seems to be made for spamming and is a bit shady. I am looking for software that fits the following characteristics:

* Allows subscibers to opt in/opt out using various methods (One method would be to go to a url, the other to reply to the email with REMOVE in the subject) - it doesn't need to offer both options at once, just have the capability of using either or.

* Be stand alone software using my mail server - in other words, a one time software purchase with no "monthly" fees

* Be less than $100 - Right now i have less than a hundred subscribers so I can use outlook and plan to continue doing so. The software can maintain the list only and that would be fine

* I did try one limited piece of software (I believe it was Atomic Mail) that checked evry so often using POP to check for Subscribes and Renews - It was great except it only allows subscriptions to be added if they are confirmed which I don't want to be forced to use.

I will add any more info as I think of it

I would recommenfd a hosted autoresponder service for this to avoid spam complaints.
There are cheap ones available such as
www.rapidreply.net , only $3 per mth.

I am also looking for a newsletter management system. Rondo - Have you used that company and what are your complaints/compliments etc? The only thing that puts me off them is they have adsense ads on their site which to me usually means they don't have enough core business to make that their only income.

I don't know about web-guy but stability and reputation are important to me. Does anyone have any suggestions of sites similar to the one Rondo suggested?

I use Subscribe Me Pro - it's great. People can subscribe and unsubscribe from your web page, can unsubscribe from a link in the email, uses double-opt-in so everyone verifies they WANT your mailings (needed to defend yourself when someone forgot they subscribed and reports you as a spammer), can send as both text and html in the same mailing, is very easy to use and is run from your browser. It's under $100. It tracks all clicks from links placed in your mailings. Used to keep track of which mailings are/were effective and which are/were not.

You can run unlimited lists with it, and its been used for lists of over two million subscribers.

newsletter software rec.

Hi,
I am also starting an newsletter. I currently do not have any subscribers but I would like to send out some invitations to people in my target market and invite them to sign up. I also don't have a website. What would be the easiest way to get started? What kind of software can I use to automate things? I can make a website if it is necessary but preferably I would need more time.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jake
