Need advise on shopping cart sofware please !

Hi Guys

I hope I don't come across as a real noob, but I'm looking for shopping car software that I can host on any server, that does not need the parent company's payment system, or hosting.

I guess what I'm trying to find is software that installs the database on the server of my choice, ( with perl, cgi script, ssl ect) allows me to download my orders, keep my own customer accounts
and lets me use my own terminal to process credit cards,

I downloaded a trail of shopfactory 6, easy to use, uploaded products to my server, it then uses a free ssl service to send you your orders via email.

That wasn't bad but they wanted $19.99 a month to set up customer tracking, incase you wanted to use different discount levels or specials for some customers,
then $9.99 for some other service, so why pay $400 for the software only to pay over $60 a month to make it complete.


any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using asp you could use VPASP, works with all databases and has a lot of built in functionality. It's a decent little cart with the ability to dump dynamic content to static pages.

There are many more out there from asp to asp.net and from cgi to php. Just avoid cold fusion based solutions, to costly all the way around.

Personally I stay away from stuff like CGI for shopping carts. I like a higher level language for rapid changes and greater flexibility regarding personnel skill sets.

Personally I like Avactis shopping cart. Avactis has very clean backend and good SEO features. And you pay only once, not monthly. It's a PHP based shopping cart.

Most of them provide free versions, so you can test drive before you buy.
