? If you want to know on what link people are clicking more on your own site: Google analitics or another counter.
If you want to know who is linking to you:

If I understood you wrong, sorry for that (my fault: bad english)

I don't think that is what he is talking about. I think that the best way would be to check the log files for the pages that are being linked to and see how many of the visitors to the pages that the buttons point to came from those buttons.

For example, if they are coming from one page and they land on a unique conversion page for each button, just count the total number of visits referred from the previous pages.

Link tracking

we just put some fake ?url=linkedurlcode&banner=ban2 in there and just use awstats and google analytics and you can see what pages are more popular. Works great.

sorry about the misunderstanding. i think an example would have been good in this case.

let's say that i have a site that has two different buttons on the homepage that are calls-to-action for our visitors. both buttons lead to the same action on the same page. i want to see which button is receiving most of the click-throughs. that way i would know which one has a higher ctr.

thanks for the help so far.

Just put a variable in each link with a specific button name in the link. This will allow you to keep track of what button was clicked. I know that it is not click tracks, but it is free and it works.
