Question Is January the worst time of the year?

I would like to find out if there is a statistic somewhere that states which time of the year is the worst in terms of online sales.

Is there even such thing?

It is market segment dependent. If you sell ski equipment or winter travel escapes... the site may do well in January. If you are selling warm weather related items...

Seasonal items depend upon the calendar... We have a site that depends upon college students... guess what happens to sales during the summer months.

my site sells cakes and a cake e-book. creativecakes.co.za

I thought maybe the time of year could be the reason we aren't selling our e-book.

The "holiday season" has just ended. Many are finding that the general consumer takes a break during the first month of the year. This may also include party planning... that could explain a lack of interest in party items... to include cakes. You think?

Depends on the business really. If you sale outerwear like jackets etc November to march is your pick time. Because those items are more expensive and you sale those more.

I ate too many cakes at Christmas... If fathom lived close by I would be over at his place mooching his treadmill and bowflex trying to burn off the extra pounds!

In short, this is the time of year for DIET cakes and healthy food..... do you have much content for that?
Comments on this post
fathom agrees: I get about 4 hours a day on 'em.

EGOL agrees: I'd bet a lot of dough that he likes beer... but don't know about the frogs and the pork skins.

Valentines should be good for you. If I was you I would start anchor texting something to the effect of Valentines cakes or valentine cake decorations. It may be a little late but Thats what I would have started a month ago.

Also, winter is great for my business because lots of men in NY like to call girls on the phone this time of year.

Well I hate beer but the rest is pretty accurate... well except the frog part, and the lily pad part, and come to think of it I usually suck the fat out of the pork skins and then slap a pound of cheese with the leftovers...

But ya you got the right idea!

Four hours? Are your training for the IronMan? Or are you watching TV or doing some other activity while you are doing it?

You recall in the Lord of the Ring "second breakfast"... well with the pills I'm on I'd pack on 5 pounds/day if I didn't do something to dump the calories.

Know what you mean Fathom. I had to take steroids a while back (of the cortico variety, not anabolic) and developed the non politically-correct named condition of 'moon face'

For online b2b services, January can be a really good month because many companies have fresh budgets and begin implementing new strategies.
