I am getting a bit worried as my conversion rate for my site isn't even 0.05%. I am receiving large amounts of traffic, but I can't seem to get it to convert to sales. Can anybody help me! My site is creativecakes.co.za
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Last edited by mburgers : January 5th, 2008 at 12:07 PM. |

You should ask someone to take care of some minor grammar problems ("principles ti creative your own unique cakes") - North Americans are very turned off by spelling or grammatical mistakes, and take it to mean that the product itself is of low quality.
Concentrate on making a single "buy now" offer (eBooks), rather than the eBooks and the cakes on the same page - this distracts buyers. The .co.za domain is probably turning some buyers away - online shoppers are used to .com extensions and would be reluctant to buy from an African country. The "buy now" button looks very flat (not like other buttons that visitors would have come across online). Make it look more 3D and "clickable". Also, at the end of the bulleted list, you should include a call to action such as "click on the button to the left to get this unique book now". ---- Creating pages for effective conversion is an art... you can read more about it by searching for "creating landing pages", exploring what your competitors are doing, and looking at the research at marketingexperiments.com You can also have a designer who's experienced in making pages for conversion help you, you can PM me if you can't find one and I could send you some links. |

That's a lot of great advice. I didn't see those grammar errors and will have someone check over everything asap.
The .com has been a bit of a concern for me as it is already taken. I am too scared to change my domain or do a redirect because I don't want to lose the traffic I am receiving. I am going to get onto this now, thanks again!! Last edited by mburgers : January 6th, 2008 at 08:54 AM. |

Also....
I would move your e-book to the top of your homepage and and place the 'Buy Now' button ON THE HOMEPAGE.
Also, if there's a way for you to change the price to US dollars on your 'Virtual Card' processor it would definitely help. Powerspirit is right, most Americans don't feel too comfortable buying from South Africa, especially when they may become confused about pricing. Seeing the price of the book in on ZAR in the checkout and not US dollars is probably a huge turn off for most people. I wouldn't probably buy the book because of that. I would recommend changing your processor to PayPal, or offering PayPal if at all possible, and accepting US dollars.

eBooks are a "hard sell" unless there is a major reason (promise of massive savings, riches, a lifetime supply of creative cakes, etc.)
Since you have the traffic and no (or few buys) it is likely that visits want "cakes" and no "how to"... That saidf your traffic is likely valuable to cake produces so why not start with offering ad space that possibly becoming a dropship merchant for them (you get the order and they send)... You likely find that your FREE eBook can be more effective supporting the selling of real cakes than a paid one and no sales.

Advertise your website.
I had a good response from taketheinternetback.com, but the thing that disappointed me a little was that their support person was not too communicative in the beginning. Probably they have a lot of ads requests to handle, as their system is also attractive for the ad readers. After all their ads had good results and I'm seriously thinking about using them again for my future emails campaigns, but... you know, I am always searching for different networks that might have even better results. |
