Ecommerce Development - Travel Reservation System - Help Needed

Hello All

I am new to this forum and hoping that i can get some information regarding ecommerce development.

I am wondering what it takes to develop a travel portal (online travel agency) that can handle flight and hotel reservations directly to consumer. Something similar on the lines of Expedia or Travelocity.

Are there are any web services or any other software exists out there in market which can be used to make Flight Availability Search and also to make Reservations?

I read about CRS and GDS systems by Sabre, Galileo, worldspan etc and I am trying to find more information on how to buy any of these software and how to integrate their software into my web modules?

Any information regarding this would be very helpful.

You know very well where to find info. You dont need to ask others except the people who are providing this like Sabre, galileo. These are not just reservation systems but they also provide inventory for hotels and direct access to air tickets availability and booking for most of the airlines.
You dont just need a booking system or software you also need online inventory for hotels, real time availability and bookings. If you have very big budget and you can have your own round the clock staff to handle customer calls,tickets, cancellations, payments, refunds( and the list goes on) etc. then you can think of going directly to sabre or galileo else you can become an affiliate for a good provider like lodging.com, hotelclub.net, hotels.com etc which provide xml connectivity for affiliates and start from there.
