Click tracking info needed
I need some help finding a good click tracking software/service for a site that gets like 300,000 page views a month. I was looking at Websides Stories Hitbox but wanted to get some other ideas. I am trying to find out exactly all of our orders come from. I cant' spend $1000 a month, but a couple of hundred is fine. Any suggestions?
Also, when someone orders over the phone, does anyone know of a good system or software to keep track of how they found out about us? I'm trying to distinguish how many phone orders we get from organic SEO as opposed to PPC. Thanks, SuperDave |

We use multiple packages, but two I really like are WhosOn and ClickTracks for analyzing how orders happen online. WhosOn uses SQL Server, and instead of using their software, we actually create our own reports straight from the database.
If you want to track it over the phone, use a ref tag in your google PPC URL and then use a session variable or cookie when a visitor arrives based on this. Then, wherever you list your phone number, see if they came from a PPC or not -- use a custom phone number for PPC and another for the rest. You can also use this for many other purposes (specific advertisers, each specific search engine, etc). S |

I just recently signed up with ClickTracks.......VERY detailed and targeted reports. However, just to make sure that you are going with a software or hosting provider that best fits your goals and needs, you may also want to check out WebTrends, Index Tools, and Omniture.
