    Setting Static Home Page Wordpress?

When I set a static home page in Worpdress>Settings>Reading to a page created named "home", my permalink shows as mydomain.com/home/

When I Google a companies name it usually shows up like this in the serps:

    Company Name
    domain.com/
    Interesting and SEO Optimized description

I want my site to show she same way, but feel it's going to be:

    My Domain
    domain.com/home/
    Description

I am using Yoast SEO for Wordpress.

Can someone help me to understand permalinks for the homepage?

Well this is very strange. Can you supply an url. Ive just tested on a site I am building and it shows the homepage as the root when set up in the same way you describe.

Here is a better way I've asked the question:

I'm interested in how my static homepage will appear in the serps.

If you Google "Socius Marketing" you see the following in the serps:

    Socius Marketing
    sociusmarketing.com/
Based in Tampa, Florida, Socius Marketing is a full-service search engine optimization company that specializes in organic search engine optimization

However, when you click on the link... you see an entirely different "Title Tag" in the browser tab.

I'm currently setting up my static homepage, named "Home". The automatic permalink given is domain.com/home/

I publish the page, go to Wordpress>Settings>Reading and click static homepage, selection "Home"

    My questions are as follows:

Question one: How will my company show up in the serps?

    Domain
    Domain.com/home/
    Site Description

    or

    Domain
    Domain.com/
    Site Description

No "Home" in the url. I've been told in another thread that Wordpress will override the /home/ and only show domain.com. I know this to be true in the browser bar, but is it true in the serps? and why?

    Second Question:

    Google "Socius Marketing"

Why is it that the serps title differs from the actual page title tag when clicked on? I'm using Yoast SEO for Wordpress and can customize my title tags. I want my company name to show in the serps as the title tag and not SEO optimized title tag.

I also have access to my day jobs backend of Wordpress. When you google that company, the same as above happens. I can see in Yoast that the SEO optimized title tag is what's written as the serps title, however... only the domain shows in the serps.

Sorry for the long drawn out, confusingly written question.

Ah, now your question is different. I was thinking your installation of wordpress was playing up. Dont worry. Your site will show in serps as www.yourdomain.com and not www.yourdomain.com/home/

why, well Im guessing that the change of settings does some type of 301 of www.yourdomain.com/home/ to www.yourdomain.com/

Dont panic, your safe. Ive built hundreds of sites in wordpress and all show the root as the homepage in serps.

Can you help me understand the way "Titles" appear in the serps?

    Google "Socius Marketing"

    See how there listing is:

    Socius Marketing
    sociusmarketing.com/
Based in Tampa, Florida, Socius Marketing is a full-service search engine optimization company that specializes in organic search engine optimization

When creating the "Title Tag" in worpress, I'm thinking it's "Socius Marketing" that would be entered into Yoasts SEO title field. However, if you click on the link... the actual "Title Tag" in the tab is different, it's "Search Engine Optimization Tampa Florida, SEO, Internet Marketing"

How can it be different? How can the preview of the serps result be different then the actual result?

    Are you using dreamweaver?
I recall it having something to do with the creating a new template in dreamweaver, and it'll conflict with your Yoast SEO plug-in.
If you create a template using dreamweaver it creates a default region in the head for editable tags etc.

I thinks it's done in the template..I would think you could edit the template and remove the non-editable meta tags, update it and see if it's gone. Make sure you back up whats already there.

    Added:
I believe their trying to show the spiders one title and users another.
    Or it's just a mistake.
