Clarification: Giant Sequoia (AP)
AP - In a Feb. 7 story, The Associated Press, citing park officials, reported that a giant sequoia known as the Washington Tree may not live much longer after losing more than half its 254-foot height in a forest fire and recent winter storms. That prediction came from an outside scientist, not park officials, who say it's impossible to predict how long the remaining 115-foot high trunk, which still has more than half a dozen branches, will continue standing.
