Where to put RSS Feed on site

I am thinking of adding a RSS Feed to my website. I have a couple of questions:

Most sites seem to have there RSS Feed on the Homepage, is it best to put it there or doesnt it really matter where you put it?

With the Feed being updated all the time, will a search engine recognize it as my site being updated (suppose to be a good thing), or will it know that its a RSS Feed?

Thanks!
