What's better

Just a quick question about blogs...Generally what is better to have a blog within your site? ie www.mywebsite.com/blog or to have the blog hosted away from the main website?

I thought having the blog within the website would be better as the blog traffic could increase the website traffic. Ok there are no back links..obviously there would be with the blog offsite/off hosting server..

So what is the better solution?

www.mywebsite.com/blog is a better option coz all the credibilities such as PR and link juice passes on it easily.
