What is the difference in a post and a blog/

I am looking to use a blog for income and to build traffic to my website but am confused about the difference between a post and a page. If I want to put articles on my blog to get comments on do I put them as a post or a blog? O also want to know what a blogroll is and the benefit to them.

I'm not sure if I understand your first question correctly, but 'posting' means adding articles to your blog. And a blogroll is a list of related blogs (links to other blogs)

To me... A blog is an ego-centric forum totally controlled by one poster... LOOK AT ME!! is the purpose of a blog. A post is someone commenting on a subject in a somewhat democratic forum.

Follow up question

OK then what is the difference between permanent links and numbered links Wordpress is the choice between post and something called writing on a page.

I am not doing this because of ego or any kind of personal satisfaction as many people use blogs for.
I am only trying to build traffic for my web site were I have products to sell.

I don't think SEO_AM meant ego-centric in a negative way. Most of the successful blogs have a personality that is unique to the blogger and that is the reason that people read them. It is the difference between reporting as Dan Rather and reporting as Rush Limbaugh. People like Dan Rather and people like Rush Limbaugh (not me necessarily) but for different reasons.

SEO_AM agrees: I don't have a negative bone in my body, UNLESS challenged.
