Tips on leaving comments on blogs??

I know that leaving a comment with your URL on a blog/article helps in backlinks and may get traffic to your website. So are there any tips on how to leave a comment with your URL on somebody's blog? Should I just comment and put my URL in the end, just like a signature or should I try to add URL in the comment. Also, is it okay to leave comments on a blog that is few weeks old or would I be just wasting my time?

Most blogs are NoFollow - the links don't count.

Many blogs have software that looks for links and stops them from going live until the owner approves.

Instead of spending time posting BS comments on other blogs, why not write something for your own site that contributes to the web? Then you have something that might attract links - as long as you have it on the site.

If your motto is to get traffic than commenting at theme based blogs will be beneficial.

Ok I will write something for my own site but without ranking how can people reach on my website how it is possible? You have enough content in your website for attract to user but my question is how the users come on your site.

You don't just write "something". You write something that is really funny, really informative, really insightful, really educational.

Then if you submit it to digg, slashdot, reddit, stumbleupon you get the opportunity to attract traffic. To be successful, your content must be really good. Have a feed that they can subscribe to or an email notification system to let them know when you have new content (I use feedburner).

I can spend several days writing one article and have one or two days of help from employees who make graphics and do research. The focus is on quality not just getting pages up on the site.

Let's be honest. Most websites only make money for hosting companies and designers. These websites are not successful because the owner does not produce or pay to have produced good quality content.

very well saying when we submitted in sb sites if our content is well obviously we get attract to visitor but there should be an option like feed, rating subscription, book marking, add comment option etc.
