Social Bookmarking - Power to the People

I just wanted to open a debate about social bookmarking....

I think that its the future when it comes to finding information through the Internet. We can all see that the search engines are filling up with links that aren't relevant and that have been planted by spammers.

Social bookmarking enables users to decide what links are good. Users even tag information giving even greater indication to the quality of a page's content. Yes there is lots of information out there but there are also a lot of us ready to read this information and tag/bookmark it. Once its been rated by a few others can know if they are likely to be interested in it.

Also, using google to search the web leaves you isolated with just yourself to talk to about sites, surely its better to be connected to a social system that links you to a community of people.

Watching the TV has long been a great talking point as people watch the same things. With the web and such a vast array of information we need another way to connect to people and talk about what we're viewing as its unlikely that the guy on the bus saw the same sites as you!
