RSS concerns and ideas...

At the moment we provide a rubbish RSS service to our website users. and we want to improve it 200%.

The XML is not validated to any standard, its url is not picked up in Windows Live, or Google Toolbars. I think this is due the it being invalid and maybe the way we call the rss.

We do it like this at the moment...
Domain address/feed.aspx?entityid=15&articleurl=detail.aspx&cachettl=0

Would it be better if presented like this and it was an actuall file sitting on the server
Domain address/topic/rss/feed.rss

Apart from us having to get our feed to be valid do you think that dynamically calling the RSS is better than their actually be a rss file sitting on the server? Does the URL make a difference?

Also, I’m wondering if there are any specific pros and cons to providing RSS feeds to users that I should watch out for. Does adding XSL styling change anything? Does adding meta page tags help search engines/readers locate your feeds?

<link href="http://#*$!.com/topic/rss/rss.xml" rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Site name ¦ topic" />

Not done much on RSS before so if any one has a perl of knowledge or can point me to a resource that can help I would be most grateful!

cheers in advance

Afro Ken
