Pinging a Blog on my site

So I want to know if there is a way to ping my blog that updates some of the post on my home site or do I need to set it up as an RSS feed? I have the first paragraph as teaser text and a link to the full article but it is updating 5 times a day and I would like to ping it not just the blog but the site. Any thoughts?

Thank you

I think if you are using CMS such as wordpress there are options there to ping whenever you made such updates. I do not know what type of CMS you are using.
